Running on Empty? Preparation is Key

Ever feel like you are running on empty? Life can be overwhelming at times and this can cause many to feel like they are running on empty. This feeling can lead to burn out. But often times individuals don’t realize how he or she is being affected simply because they don’t know or recognize the signs.  God has, in his infinite wisdom, given us the ability to know when our bodies are running low.  We become stressed, easily agitated, aggravated, cranky, tired, or even become sick.  As a result, we begin to see the manifestations in our lives.  God wants us to recognize when we are running on empty and replenish ourselves. Ultimately, your body needs rest! The key is to prepare. In the story of the 10 virgins, 5 were prepared and 5 were unprepared, which left them missing the bridegroom.  Opportunities will come in our lives and opportunities will go. The only problem is many are not ready when the time comes, they’ve run on empty! Don’t run on empty and miss what God has for you.  Be prepared!

Scripture

Matthew 25:1-13

Task

1. Recognize the symptoms of burn out

2. Take time for self

3. Replenish and fill yourself with the word

What will be your reasonable service?

What does serving mean to you? Do you think you are serving enough? Could you serve better? The bible says in Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

What will be your reasonable service? In all things do as unto the Lord. Service is the act of helping or doing work for someone. It is an act of assistance. From your uprising to your down setting, service is part of your daily routine. You serve on your job, in your home and even in your church. Everything you do is a service, but how are you serving? Are you serving with an attitude or gratitude? How do people respond to your service? However they respond is an indicator of how you are doing. Should there be adjustments? Think back for a moment, determine the kind of service you are giving and want to give. Let all things be unto the Lord.

Task
Ask yourself ‘How are you presenting your self daily?” (Is it good or bad)?
Determine how you would like to serve
Determine how you can serve

What’s your challenge

Are you having a hard time? Is each day becoming more of a challenge? Are those challenges tough? I bet they are.  Every day can be tough but in that, we take with each day, a new lesson. We have either encountered someone or something new or we have experienced a new thing. Those new things can be a challenge, however challenges allow for strength and courage to face each day.

A challenge is a call or dare for someone to compete or take part in something.  You were called to overcome, even as Christ overcame and is seated at the right hand of God.  Your afflictions are only for a moment. At some point you will see the reward. But the reward will only come when you accept the challenge and press toward the mark.  Therefore, I challenge you to take it to the next level. Take each moment and excel with your new found knowledge and spring forward and press toward the mark.

Philippians 3:14 says I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus

Remember, every day is a new day to begin. Your life begins today………

Your task

1.     Identify your challenge

2.     Map out how you plan to overcome it

3.     Overcome and Press toward the mark

What have you accomplished?

In the midst of the New Year, four weeks have already passed and your goals are still at the forefront. What have you accomplished?

Accomplishments are those things that you bring to a successful finish. It is the completion or achievement of something that you have desired, no matter how small.

Think for a moment about all the things you wish to accomplish this year. Have you written them down? If so, that’s only the beginning. If you have checked off anything on your list thus far, then you have made an accomplishment.

Many times we feel as though we are not getting anything done, when in fact, even the little things count. The point is, you completed one of your goals. In those minor accomplishments reward your self by self appreciating yourself and accepting that you brought something to a successful finish. How great is that? When you reward yourself you are more apt to continue in your efforts to do more.

Psalms 5:12 For thou, Lord wilt bless the righteous with favor wilt thou compass him as a shield.

Every day is a new day to begin again. Remember, your life begins today!

Your Task

1.     Write out your list

2.     Check off the things you have done

3.     Reward yourself

4.     Move Forward in your accomplishment

Up your knowledge

Have you made any New Year resolutions? Decided to make any changes this upcoming year? Made a commitment to complete a task this year? All those things are wonderful but what about upping your knowledge this year. We all have made decisions about what we plan to do this year and even made out our to do list this year.  Making resolutions is great but what is a New Year’s resolution without information to carry out your plan? Have you sat down to figure out what you need to carry out your New Year’s resolutions?  Hmmm, what could that be? You guessed it, Knowledge.

Knowledge comes through study, investigation and experience. The stone ages are long gone; therefore keeping up with the times is a necessity. Children today are more technologically savvy than the generation before. However, it doesn’t mean that you can’t catch up. Being in the know can be a good thing, especially when it can improve your life.

Moses asked a simple question “If I have found grace in thy sight, show me now thy way, that I might know thee and that I may find grace in your sight” (Exodus 33:13).  Moses wanted to know God on a deeper and more intimate level.  His wanting to know God allowed him to be a great leader. What do you want to know?

In your New Year resolutions, what is on your list that you need to acquire more information or knowledge about? Once you acquire the knowledge, you have now become more informed. This allows for you to complete your resolutions, goals or tasks that you set out to complete this year.  Why? You’ve become more knowledgeable about the topic.  The more knowledgeable you are, the more confidence you have in moving forward with your task. Take every opportunity to increase your knowledge and God will bless you even more.

Everyday is a new day to begin again!  Your life begins today!

Your task

1.     Determine what you want to know

2.     Research the information

3.     Study the information

4.     Use the knowledge you’ve gained

5.     Move forward

What’s your priority?

What is it that takes precedence over everything else in your life? Whatever that is, is your priority.  Many of our priorities never become or take precedence because we don’t make the time to do so.

On the wake of each day our minds begin to tell us the many things we have to do.  We have countless agendas of the many tasks that need to be done but by the end of the day, nothing seems to have been accomplished.

Why? You didn’t prioritize.  Many of the things that need to be done in a day can be prioritized. How do you do that? Simply make list. As simple as it may sound, a list will help you organize and prioritize the things that need to be done.  A list will also help you stay on track.  Not only will you get more done but you will feel at ease when you do. You will feel less stressed by knowing the things you have accomplished.

Because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

James 1:3-4

RememberEvery day is a new day to begin again. Your life begins today…………………..”

Task

  1. Make a list of the things you need to do today
  2. Place them in order of importance
  3. Check off your list as you complete them
  4. Watch you stress level decrease

What is your motive?

Have you ever wondered why some people always seem to get things done? Or maybe you’ve wondered why others around you are meeting and exceeding their goals? Could it be that they have a motive? What is your motive?

A motive is something that causes you to act. It is the very thing that inspires you to do what you do. Every morning you get up and you go to work. Why? Because you know that if you don’t work, the things that you need or want will not be taken care of.

So why is it that dreams aren’t fulfilled?  You guessed it, Motive.  If you don’t have a reason for fulfilling your dream, then chances are you won’t make that dream come true.  Your motive is your motivation for working towards that unfulfilled desire.

But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble, and good heart, who hear the word, retain it and by persevering produce a crop. Luke 8:15

Remember everyday is a new day to begin again.  Your life begins today……

Task

  1. Find your motive
  2. Believe in yourself
  3. Commit to the dream
  4. Don’t let others kill your dream

Dare to soar

Are you ready for your life to soar?  What’s keeping you from soaring? What are you afraid of? We have all had things we are afraid of.  Being afraid can keep you from soaring, better yet it will keep you in bondage.  Bondage will keep you from soaring.

Soaring requires you to rise up and go. Often times we won’t try new things because we fear failure or we fear success.  Failure because we don’t want to fail and success because we aren’t ready to handle all that comes with the territory.

Regardless, fear hinders you from reaching your God given abilities.  God has gifted you and he has given you the ability to do what needs to be done.   Therefore not doing it is not an option for you.  God expects you to use your abilities for his glory.  Only you can do what God has called you to do.  It may be writing, singing, carving, or painting. Whatever the case may be God wants you to soar in your ability.  Let today be the day that you decide to soar in your ability.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who hope in the lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Remember everyday is a new day to begin again.  Your life begins today……..

Task

I dare you today to soar in your ability to do what God has called you to do.

I dare you to put aside fear and move into your calling

What is your dwelling place?

In the hustle and bustle of the day we find ourselves rushing out into the world. In most cases we are ready to conquer it. But by the end of the day, we wonder how we made it through. You are tired, stressed and overworked. Yet and still you want to find a place to run and hide from it all. Where is this place and how can you find it?  The answer is simple, find your dwelling place.

Your dwelling place is where you can find rest. A sweet, sweet rest. It is a place where you can go and find shelter from the rain. It is a place of peace, love and serenity. This is your secret place in God.

We all need a place where we can go and rejuvenate ourselves in order to come back ready to continue the race. We all need a moment to meditate and relax during the day. We all need a time of uninterrupted dwelling. This dwelling place is where God can give you what you need to make it every day. The problem is we don’t make time for our dwelling place. When it was time for Jesus to rest, even he took time away for himself.  How much more can we learn from him.

He that dwells in the shelter of the most high shall find rest in the shadow of the almighty.  Psalm 91:1

I challenge you to find your dwelling place and make an appointment to be there everyday.  Spend time with God and watch his awesome glory in your life.

Remember every day is a new day to begin again. Your life begins today…..

Your task

1. Find your dwelling place.

2. Set aside time each day for this place

3. Dwell in that place every day

Blessings,
