Life can be an adventure and when that happens, we get caught up in it!  We run, run, and run, never slowing down to recognize that we got to much going on. We feel like the more we do, the more we are accomplishing. Better yet the more we do for others, the more we want to please others by keeping them satisfied. The truth of the matter is, the more you do, the more you are going to try to do and nothing you want to do is being accomplished.   Don’t get me wrong, doing is not the problem. It’s how much of what you are doing is necessary and is it bringing God the glory?

Doing to much can take you off course and take you away from your purpose in life.

Let’s keep it simple by doing some simple addition and subtraction.  Let’s add the things we need to accomplish and subtract the things that are of less importance.

Life can be more fulfilling when we commit ourselves to what’s important. Not the twenty things we might have going on that are not.. Simplify your life and focus on your goals.

Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith Hebrews 12:1-2

Look at your present life and determine what’s important.

Is your every act necessary ?

Is your every act pleasing to God?

Are you trying to rack up points in heaven by doing?

Is too much getting in the way?

Are you keeping it simple and relying on God?

Make a list of the necessities and a list of your desires.

Which one of these is keeping you from your goals?

Perception-Who do you think you are?

How do you perceive yourself? Do you think the best of yourself? Or less of yourself? Do you talk yourself down or talk yourself up? Perception is our way of looking ourselves and at others. It is our way of understanding who we are and what we believe others to be. Based on our perception of ourselves and others, we make assumptions.  And those assumptions cause us to create a belief system about ourselves and others. This thought of perception leads us into a permanent way of believing. This belief system can make or break you. Why? The more you think yourself into how you perceive yourself, you become what you believe.

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he Proverbs 23:7

It’s like the old saying “you are what you eat”. This is true because what you eat shows in your physical being.  Your perception is the same way. You are what you believe you are.

Maybe you have thought less of yourself? Maybe you have even compared yourself to others. Whatever the case may be, you have a choice to change your belief system.  Start today. Every day is a new day to begin again. Your life begins today…………………..

The person you want to be and start thinking that way

The misconceptions you may have about yourself.

The misconceptions you may have about others.

In your journal time this week, write down your perceptions and misconceptions.

What can you do to change your thought?

What steps will you take to make these changes?

How will you know your perception has changed?

You are deserving!!!

The word deserve is such a small word, but more powerful in its essence. It means to be worthy of. Many times we are reluctant to accept things from others because we don’t believe we should, or because we don’t believe we deserve to. We even go to the extent of feeling bad about accepting things from others. We even try to have a false humility about it. It is this type of thinking that causes us to not receive everything that God desires us to have. Christ died on the cross for us when we were undeserving. We were undeserving of his love and undeserving of his sacrifice. However, it is this love that allows us to be able to accept from others what he desires us to have. Christ died so that you could have life and have it more abundantly. As a result, God uses his people to bless others. But we must be willing to accept the gifts that he offers us. We will never be able to repay Christ for his sacrifice, but we can love him for it and accept the gift he has given us. The way we show our love to him is by accepting his love from the cross. How he chooses to do that, is totally out of your control! The enemy may have tried to make you think that because of your past mistakes you are undeserving or your past indiscretions that you are undeserving of anything. But this is a lie! God wants you to have all your heart desires and even more. So how do I receive this blessing? By believing that you are deserving

You were dead in sins, and your sinful desires were not yet cut away. Then he gave you a share in the very life of Christ, for he forgave all your sins. Colossians 2:13

What you believe you deserve. What does it look like? Can you see yourself with it?

What are the things you desire to have? What are you reluctant to accept? Why do you feel you are undeserving?

Write in your journal this week about the things you thought you were undeserving of. Then put a big X across that page and write the things you are deserving of. Think of it this way-old things are passed away, all things have become new. Believe!

What’s your attitude?

That’s what it’s about! We have all heard the saying “Your attitude will determine your altitude”. In other words, your attitude will determine how far and how high you will go.  One thing is for sure, the right attitude will take you a long way. I am reminded of Saul’s attitude toward Christians in the bible.  He literally crucified them. But when his attitude changed, so did his life.  His new attitude afforded him an opportunity to go farther in his journey in life. He learned his life’s purpose and began to evangelize for Christ. Not only did Saul’s life change but his status changed in the eyes of the people.  He was given a new name and a new identity.  When you have the right attitude your status among people will change too.

Your attitude about life can bring you good or it can bring you bad.  What do you want to come your way?  Joy, happiness, love, etc.  Whatever you want to receive, you must be willing to give. If you give an attitude, you will receive an attitude back, but if you give love, then you will receive love back.

What choice will you make today about your attitude? Are you going to let your attitude stop you from receiving your blessings?

And so, dear brothers, now we may walk right into the very Holy of Holies where God is, because of the blood of Jesus  Hebrew 10:19

Today is a new day to begin again.  Your life begins to………………….

The new you and what you want the new you to look like.

What is keeping you from having the right kind of attitude? People….

What can you do to change this?

Write in your journal this week

  1. What things, people or places that cause you to have the wrong attitude
  2. How this makes you feel.
  3. How can you change for the better
  4. What steps will you take to make it happen
